Everything about Stave Hill totally explained

Stave Hill is in a 5.2 acre ecological park, adjacent to Russia Dock Woodland, in the area of Rotherhithe, London Borough of Southwark close to Canada Water. Much of the park is what used to be the Stave Dock of the Surrey Commercial Docks, which was filled in during 1984 and then redeveloped by the London Docklands Development Corporation. Much of it's now an ecological park, meaning that it's a nature reserve close to the centre of London. Landscaping of the park began in 1986 and has been mamaged since 1988 by the Trust for Urban Ecology.
In 1985, the LDDC created an 30 foot high artificial mound using waste material and rubble. It is from this hill that the park derives its name. The hill was built as a truncated cone, with a viewing platform and relief map of the former docks in cast bronze by Michael Rizzello at the top, and provides views over the City of London, Greenwich, South London as well as Canary Wharf.
